Pierrot Le Fou is yet another great film by Jean-Luc Godard. Jean Paul Belmondo (!!!) plays Ferdinand, an unhappily married man who decides to leave his family for his ex- lover Marianne (Anna Karina), who also happens to be his babysitter. Yea, it’s complicated. He soon learns that Marianne is being hunted by Algerian gangsters and the two embark on a road trip and a life of crime together. It’s a film that is at times romantic, violent, silly and sad. Godard makes a story that could be ordinary fascinating by adding his trademark primary color palette, satire, songs, and quirky comic book details. New wave cinema at it’s best.
