Hedi Slimane’s latest diary entry is a small group of photos of two of my favorite actors. Robert De Niro, winner of the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, Focker, and he of a recent hilarious 30Rock cameo; and Michael Pitt, who I’ve loved since Hedwig and the Angry Itch, Gus Van Sant’s Cobain inspired Last Days, The Dreamers, and more recently as Jimmy Darmody in the prohibition era drama Boardwalk Empire.
Slimane’s photos perfectly capture all of the expression in De Niro’s stoic and weathered face that have made him such a charismatic character actor throughout his career. Down to his signature mole and Scorsese-esque brows. Michael Pitt with all of his boyish charm can hardly compete but he sure is rockin’ that bow tie. You know what they say… Age before beauty.
