“The only thing more terrifying than the last 12 minutes of this film are the first 92!”
umm, yeah, I don’t know about all that but thanks anyway… Suspiria is not a scary film and the plot is silly but it has a few redeeming qualities. First of all, it employs two of my favorite horror movie scare tactics: weird music* and whispering. Halloween is a perfect example of how effective music can be, I don’t even need to see Michael Meyers, just play a few chords of his creepy jam and I’m shook! And whispering? ugh, don’t get me started!? so annoyingly spooky (maybe I’m alone on this one..) The sets are dramatic and the acting is so campy and ridiculous. It also boasts being the last film to use the Technicolor process before the plant was shut down. Pretty damn awesome.

*The film score was composed by an Italian Rock band called Goblin (zing!)
